Poker Table Etiquette
As in all social gatherings some types of behavior is accepted, even encouraged, by some groups while other groups frown upon the same behavior. It would be imposable list all poker player etiquette as not all poker groups would agree on what is acceptable. However, some behavior is universally frowned upon, such as:
No cell phones at the table
Give the others a break. They are here to play poker not to have to listen to others on the phone.
Acting out of turn
By not waiting for you turn you can affect the game by giving the acting player too much information.
Revealing the contents of a hand before the hand is completed
This also can unfairly change the game by giving the acting player more information than they should have.
No String Bets
Players are not allowed to put chips into the pot and then, if they feel they have a read on their opponent, increase the raise. A player must announce the total of the raise verbally and/or put the entire raise into the pot.
Show one - show all
If you do show your cards you must show them to all of the players.
Some other common tournaments rules are:
No rabbit hunting
You aren't allowed to look at the next card that would have been played.
To win the pot players must show both their hole cards.
No reading the board aloud
Saying things such as "Aha; a third spade, I have a possible flush now fellows" is not allowed
